Need to clean your mounting surface with a good cleaner. We use lacquer thinner. Keep drain hole clean in these and all vases from freezing ice. WE like to leave styrofoam in vases through winter. Or the cup with styrofoam in it. Helps the ice not expand as much. All of us vase makers had to worry about this.

Bottom plate screws on for mounting to vase.
